Mahogany Opera co-produces tour of Bunker Cabaret with extraordinary Ukrainian artists
Book now for performances at Somerset House, London on 24 and 25 February
We're honoured to be co-producing a new international tour of Bunker Cabaret with our friends and partners Hooligan Art Community, following our collaborations on the Various Stages Festival 2020, and a residency and performance in Germany in 2022, documented at a recent Meet Me @ Mahogany. The first leg of the tour in January and February takes place in the lead-up to the one-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24th February.
The show is a kaleidoscope of dance, drama and song which started life in the bomb shelters of Kyiv. By turns ironic, raw, funny and devastating, the performance starkly reveals the performers' individual experiences of the war while communicating a shared humanity, creating beautiful moments of connection between artists and audiences. On this tour the Ukrainian collective will share, with all their urgency and passion, Ukraine’s incredible independent culture and the unique perspectives of their artists.
Tickets are on sale now for shows at Somerset House in London on 24 and 25 February, marking the 1st anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, with further dates in the UK and Ireland in March-April available soon. Check our What's On panel on our homepage for more booking links.
The tour of Bunker Cabaret takes place as part of the UK/Ukraine Season of Culture, designed jointly by the British Council and the Ukrainian Institute, with additional funding from Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Foyle Foundation.
