Hear about Hooligan, an extraordinary participatory music theatre project involving Ukrainian, German & British artists
In May we were honoured to support Hooligan Art Community, a Kyiv-based theatre collective of artists from Ukraine, UK and Germany, to deliver a participatory project in Halle, Germany. Part of the British Council-supported UK-Ukraine Season, the project was originally due to have taken place in Dnipro, Ukraine. Instead, eight Ukrainian artists gathered in Halle (with two male colleagues participating remotely from Kyiv), working with director Peter Cant, movement director Mathis Kleinschnittger, vocal leader Jessie Maryon Davies and a chorus of Ukranian refugees and local Germans to present Hooligan: an extraordinary evening of music theatre at the WUK Theater Quartier on 25 May.
We're delighted to be able to share some of the work they created with you at this special Meet Me @ Mahogany event. Introduced by a representative of the British Council UK-Ukraine Season and facilitated by our Artistic Director Freddie Wake-Walker, the discussion will involve artists Peter Cant, Jessie Maryon Davies, Mathis Kleinschnittger, Semion Kyslyi, Danylo Shramenko, Liuba Sliusareva, Mirra Zhuchkova and others sharing their experiences, as well as some inspiring extracts from the performance they created.
The discussion will take place in English on Zoom. It will be BSL-interpreted and live-captioned. Please register on Eventbrite to receive the Zoom link for the event. We hope to see you there.
