Partners

We work with a broad and diverse range of partners. Together, we explore new ways of working and search for new creative relationships.

It was a privilege and a pleasure to partner with Mahogany Opera on our new opera, Dido’s Ghost, in 2020. Commissioning a new opera was unchartered territory for us, and it has been fantastic to have Mahogany's experience and expertise throughout.
Jo Buckley, Dunedin Consort
We are delighted to be working in partnership with Mahogany Opera to bring Snappy Operas to Scotland. The ethos, energy, and excellence of the Snappy Opera model is what assured us it would be a strong project, the staff, their attention to detail, and belief in playful engagement have made it a strong partnership, that has been a joy to develop. Also, the opportunity not only to build a project that will engage and enrich children and their families, but also offer professional development to creatives based in Scotland is very important to us.
Caroline Donald, Head of Learning & Engagement EIF
As a newer opera company, it’s been great for Hera to partner with Mahogany. They’ve given us practical and financial support as part of Various Stages (helping get our digital opera ‘We Ask These Questions of Everybody’ off the ground), but more importantly have offered faith and enthusiasm in our particular vision, and our creative process.
Toria Banks, HERA
A key element in our music strategy is for students to work with professional artists, to perform in inspiring venues and to experience a professional rehearsal process – Mahogany Opera delivered that in spades!
Nicola Atkins, LeicesterShire Music
North Tyneside Music Education Hub has been working in partnership with Mahogany Opera since 2017, performing 10 snappy operas and completing a brand new commission during a global pandemic! We are delighted that this partnership has continued to grow and develop, enabling us to offer this unique opportunity to increasing numbers of our young people. Working with skilled professionals in the field of opera is inspiring for both pupils and staff and has created memories which will last a lifetime.
Julie Dorr, North Tyneside Music Education Hub Lead
Mahogany’s artists work in a unique way, unlocking children’s creativity and encouraging them to be the opera makers themselves; they bring such professionalism, collaboration and fun to anyone they work with regardless of age or experience.
Alison Porter, THAMES
Working with Mahogany Opera unlocks something rather extraordinary for our students here at the University of Edinburgh. Above all, it’s an opportunity to be supported and challenged in equal measure by the most skilled, sensitive and experienced opera practitioners working in the UK.
Dr Gareth Williams, Programme Director - MMus Composition, Edinburgh College of Arts
My experience of working with Mahogany has been most pleasurable… The partnership has brought a new dimension of possibility to a small primary school in East Sussex, shown by the eager faces and commitment of the children. Our goals as a Festival included bringing music to as wide an age group as possible, to educate and inspire. All these goals were achieved with the Snappy Opera production.
