Mahogany Opera online forum

Mahogany Opera’s Artistic Director Frederic Wake-Walker in conversation with composer Errollyn Wallen and writer Wesley Stace as they discuss new opera Dido’s Ghost and unwrap the process of collaboration.

Co-commissioned by Dunedin Consort, Barbican and Mahogany Opera and opening at the Barbican in June 2021, Errollyn and Wesley’s opera will reframe and illuminate Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. Performed on period instruments by Dunedin Consort, Dido’s Ghost will bridge worlds, blurring past and present, creating a distinctive new classic for our time.

This conversation took place on 14 October 2020 and was facilitated by Ludmilla Jordanova, Emeritus Professor of History and Visual Culture, Durham University and Mahogany Opera’s newest Trustee. A first of what Mahogany Opera hopes to become a series of regular online events.
