Freya Wynn-Jones is a director, singer and maker working across a wide range of professional, educational and community settings. With a particular interest in the relationship between theatre and vocal art, Freya works with companies across the country including The Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Welsh National Opera, Mahogany Opera, Streetwise Opera, The Southbank Centre, Aurora Orchestra and Spitalfields.
She is an Associate Artist for the Royal Opera House Youth Company, and intergenerational arts charity Magic Me. She is passionate about finding contemporary resonance in existing repertoire for diverse audiences and making new opera. In 2016 she co-founded Voicings Collective to explore devising new works of music theatre in the ensemble and, in 2018, she was recognised as Spitalfields Open Call Artist devising new work for a cross-discipline vocal ensemble titled Same Sun.
In recent years, Freya has developed a pedagogy and works alongside opera houses and arts providers to develop and deliver facilitator and teacher training. For Mahogany Opera she has staged all of the Snappy Operas to date in schools across the country, as well as consulting on and delivering professional development training to Snappy Opera artistic teams, teachers and music partners.
