Emma Doherty

Director

Emma is a director and musician based in Manchester who believes theatre and music are tools for empowerment and social change. She was the artistic director and co-founder of The Opera Shack, a collective designed to make innovative opera in unusual locations. Emma’s directing highlights include a seven city tour of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with Manchester Collective, assisting Sir David Pountney at WNO and an interdisciplinary production of Bizet’s Carmen with The Opera Shack. This summer, Emma is working on Youth Company productions at Royal Opera House and Opera North and she is thrilled to be returning to Mahogany Opera.
